As I continue to grow as a developer, I often have many windows open across many screens. Therefore, I’m interested in anything that helps me become more efficient and organized when using my computer.

I’d like to show you Slate, and amazing organization tool. Slate is a fully featured window manager, is completely open source and extremely customizable.

If you take a look at the Github repo it might seem very daunting with all the customizability, but once you manage to get everything configured, you’ll wonder why anyone would want to pay for apps like SizeUp or Divvy.

When positioning my windows I like having some padding between each window so after much addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division I managed to add a 20px space between each window and it feels very comfortable now.

If you’re comfortable with working in the command line and specifying options and text file and you will love slate it’ll become an essential tool in your arsenal.
